Basic eligibility paths
- Be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of Assam, registered with a local Employment Exchange in Assam, and able to speak Assamese or another State language fluently.
- Meet the post-wise physical standards - for Forester Grade-I, Forest Guard and Game Watcher the minimum height is 163 cm for men and 150 cm for women, relaxed to 153 cm and 145 cm for ST(P) and ST(H).
- Age is computed only from the HSLC admit card or pass certificate; horoscopes, affidavits and birth extracts are not accepted.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
- Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection stages
- 1Physical Efficiency Test (PET) carrying 40 marks, with biometric capture before the test

- Forester Grade-I written test: 100 one-mark MCQs on an OMR sheet with a quarter-mark penalty for a wrong answer, covering logical reasoning, aptitude and English comprehension, the history and culture of Assam and India, and general knowledge.
