For teaching classes 6 to 8: a bachelor's degree plus a two-year D.El.Ed; or a bachelor's degree with at least 50 per cent plus a one-year or two-year B.Ed; or a bachelor's degree with at least 45 per cent plus a one-year B.Ed under the NCTE regulations; or Higher Secondary with at least 50 per cent plus a four-year B.El.Ed; or Higher Secondary with at least 50 per cent plus a four-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed; or a bachelor's degree with at least 50 per cent plus a B.Ed (Special Education). Reserved-category and divyang candidates get up to 5 per cent relaxation in the qualifying marks (SCERT guideline, Khand-A, clause 3).
- Age
- The SCERT guideline for this test prescribes only academic and professional qualifications and fixes no age limit of its own; age conditions apply at the recruiting department's own teacher-recruitment stage. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- All categories of divyang candidates are exempt from the application fee and the examination fee under the Chhattisgarh School Education Department's order F 14-95/2011/20-three dated 14 December 2011, cited in the SCERT guideline; other candidates pay the fee fixed in the cycle's own application documents on the board's TET26 page. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- The eligibility test carries no pay; pay attaches to the teaching post advertised by the recruiting department. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Who can apply?
A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.
Basic eligibility paths
- The test is compulsory for appointment as a teacher in every school covered by clause 2(n) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, but is eligibility only and is not an order of appointment (SCERT guideline, clause 2).
- Qualifying marks are 60 per cent; SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and divyang candidates need 50 per cent (SCERT guideline, clauses 2.iv and 2.v).
- A pass is valid for life, and a candidate who has already qualified may sit again only to improve the score (SCERT guideline, clauses 2.vi and 2.vii).
- Only a diploma or degree in teacher education recognised by NCTE counts; for Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education) only Rehabilitation Council of India-recognised courses count, and a holder of those qualifications must complete a six-month NCTE-recognised special training in elementary education after appointment (SCERT guideline, notes आ and इ).
- Qualifying candidates receive an eligibility certificate to be produced at the time of appointment; other candidates receive only a marksheet (SCERT guideline, clause 2.viii).
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
- Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.

Selection process & syllabus

Selection stages
- 1Paper I for teaching classes 1 to 5 and Paper II for teaching classes 6 to 8; a candidate seeking both levels must sit both papers
- 2150 multiple-choice questions of one mark each in 2 hours 30 minutes, with four options per question and no negative marking
- 3Category-wise qualifying marks decide the pass, and a lifetime-valid e-certificate is issued
