Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET)

Basic eligibility paths

• ✓The Board conducts HTET at three levels - Level 1 for Primary Teacher, Level 2 for Trained Graduate Teacher and Level 3 for Post Graduate Teacher - as set out in its HTET information bulletin.
• ✓Under section 23(1) of the RTE Act 2009 a teacher eligibility test pass is a minimum qualification for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII.
• ✓Following the NCTE's 2021 decision removing the seven-year limit, a TET pass certificate is valid for life; confirm the wording on the Board's certificate portal.
• ✓Confirm qualifying marks, relaxations, fee and the language/Haryana-specific conditions in the Board's current bulletin.

Relaxations & certificates

• SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
• Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection stages

1. 1Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 written paper depending on the teaching post targeted
2. 2Qualifying standard fixed under the NCTE TET guidelines at 60 per cent, with the state free to relax it for reserved categories
3. 3The HTET certificate establishes eligibility only; appointment is a separate recruitment run by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission

Syllabus snapshot

• Under the NCTE guidelines for conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test dated 11 February 2011, each TET paper carries 150 one-mark multiple-choice questions in 150 minutes with no negative marking.
• Use the Board's own HTET information bulletin for the level-wise subject weightings and the Haryana general-awareness component.
