- 10th · 12th · ITI / Diploma · Graduate Prescribed post-wise in Annexure-A as received from the indenting departments; certificates must be produced in original as proof of having acquired the prescribed qualification strictly on or before the cut-off date fixed for filling the online application forms (clause 05).
- Age
- As on 1 January 2026 under clause 04: Open Merit 40 years (not born before 01.01.1986); SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and Other Backward Classes 43 years (not born before 01.01.1983); Physically Challenged Persons 42 years (not born before 01.01.1984). In every category the candidate must not be born after 01.01.2008. Every ex-serviceman is allowed to deduct the period of service in the Armed Forces from his actual age, and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post by more than 3 years he is deemed to satisfy the age condition. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- Rs. 600 (Rupees Six Hundred only); Rs. 500 for candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD categories, payable only online through net banking, credit or debit card (clause 08). Use the official payment instructions only.

Basic eligibility paths
- Candidates must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format on or before the cut-off date, i.e. the last date for submission of online application forms (clause 02).
- Appointment and other service conditions of candidates selected through this process are governed by the extant rules and regulations of the Government of the UT of J&K (clause 01).
- The qualification prescribed for each advertised post is shown in Annexure-A; the educational qualification must be acquired strictly on or before the cut-off date for filling online application forms (clause 05).
- Candidature is accepted only provisionally - the Board does not undertake detailed scrutiny of eligibility before the written/OMR examination, and an ineligible candidate is not allowed to participate in later stages (clause 12).
- The number of posts may increase or decrease before or during the selection process, and the notification is subject to the outcome of any writ petition or O.A. pending before a competent court (clause 03).

Syllabus snapshot
- Clause 10 (Scheme of Examination): the examination consists of objective type, multiple choice questions and the questions are set in English language only.
- There is negative marking for each wrong answer to the extent of one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question.
