Vacancies
Not announced
This is an eligibility test and does not carry vacancies; vacancies are advertised separately for the department's Teacher Selection Test.
Education
12th · Graduate
Under the Madhya Pradesh State School Education Service (Academic Cadre) Recruitment Rules 2018 reproduced in the PSTET 2024 rulebook: Higher Secondary with at least 50 per cent plus a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education; or Higher Secondary with at least 45 per cent plus a two-year D.El.Ed under the NCTE Regulations 2002; or Higher Secondary with at least 50 per cent plus a four-year B.El.Ed; or Higher Secondary with at least 50 per cent plus a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education); or a bachelor's degree plus a two-year D.El.Ed. Reserved-category candidates get up to 5 per cent relaxation in the qualifying marks, and B.Ed holders are not eligible following the Supreme Court's judgment of 11 August 2023.
Age
The eligibility test itself sets no minimum or maximum age — a candidate only has to hold, or be in the final year of, the prescribed qualification. The separate Teacher Selection Test requires a minimum age of 21 years as on 1 January of its advertisement year, with the maximum age fixed by the General Administration Department rules in force (PSTET 2024 rulebook, chapter 1, clause 7).
Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
Application fee
₹500 for unreserved candidates and ₹250 for Madhya Pradesh-domicile SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates in the previous cycle (PSTET 2024), plus an MP Online portal fee of ₹60 via kiosk or ₹20 via a registered citizen login; the next cycle's fee is not published yet.
Use the official payment instructions only.
Pay
The eligibility test carries no pay of its own; the Primary Teacher post it qualifies a candidate for starts at ₹25,300 plus dearness allowance (PSTET 2024 rulebook, chapter 1, clause 9).
Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

How to read reservation: UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST are vertical categories. PwBD, women, ex-servicemen and similar horizontal reservations can overlap them and must not be added again to the total.

Who can apply?

A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.

Basic eligibility paths

  • Qualifying marks are 60 per cent, relaxed to 50 per cent for Madhya Pradesh-domicile SC, ST, OBC, EWS and divyang candidates holding a valid certificate from a competent authority; applicants from other states need 60 per cent (PSTET 2024 rulebook, clauses 6 and 7).
  • A pass is valid for life, and this lifetime validity covers the Primary Teacher Eligibility Test held in 2020 and later, so an already-qualified candidate need not sit again (rulebook clause 7).
  • Candidates in the final year of the prescribed professional qualification may sit the eligibility test; those without the academic and professional qualification, and not in its final year, may not (rulebook clause 7).
  • Qualifying creates no right to appointment — a candidate must also clear the department's separate Teacher Selection Test, and appointment follows the recruitment rules current when that advertisement is issued (rulebook clause 7).
  • Live registration with a Madhya Pradesh employment exchange is compulsory (rulebook page 1, note 8).

Relaxations & certificates

  • SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
  • Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.
