Post-specific: a degree or 3-year diploma in Agricultural/Civil Engineering (Sectional Officer Grade-II and Surveyor Grade-III, the latter also open to ITI Surveyor holders); HSSLC with the 2-year training course from the Soil Training Institute, Sechu Zubza (Soil Conservation Assistant); HSSLC (Science) with a Diploma/IETC in Agriculture (Agriculture Field Assistant); Bachelor in Library Science (Library Assistant); B.Sc (Horticulture/Agriculture) (Horticulture Extension Assistant); HSSLC with a one-year Fine Arts diploma (Drawing Teacher); HSSLC with at least 50% and Physical Education, or a Physical Education degree/diploma of at least three years from an NCTE-recognised institution (Physical Education Teacher); and matriculation with a one-year certificate course in Sericulture (Sericulture Field Assistant).

21 to 32 years as on 1 Jan 2026, relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and, for serving government employees, by the number of years served subject to a maximum of 5 years under Government of Nagaland OM No. AR/GEN-6/7/2024/A dated 15 Oct 2024.

Who can apply?

Basic eligibility paths

  • All CETSE 2026 vacancies are reserved for indigenous inhabitants of the State of Nagaland.
  • One Time Registration on the NSSB portal is mandatory before the examination-specific online form can be submitted.
  • Date of birth is proved only by the HSLC/Matriculation admit card or pass certificate, and Indigenous Inhabitant, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Tribe certificates must be signed by a district authority not below the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner, in the revised government format.
  • Government and public-undertaking employees must upload a No Objection Certificate signed by the Head of Department in the Board's own format.

Relaxations & certificates

  • SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
  • Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection process & syllabus

Stage by stage, without mixing recruitment years.

Selection stages

  1. 1Tier I Paper I - 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours, compulsory for every post
  2. 2Tier I Paper II - 200 questions for 200 marks in 3 hours, omitted only for Sericulture Field Assistant, with a qualifying cut-off of 30% of the total marks under Section 24 of the NSSB Regulations 2020 (Amendment)
  3. 3Interview, before which candidates are given an opportunity to record their preference of post and department
  4. 4Document verification, at which original certificates must be produced
