Who can apply?
A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.
Basic eligibility paths
- The candidate must have appeared and qualified in GATE-2026 conducted by IIT Guwahati and must quote the GATE-2026 normalised score out of 100; OPTCL verifies it against the original GATE result.
- Graduates who intend to pursue further study on the basis of their GATE-2026 score, or who would need an extension of joining time on selection, are told not to apply.
- Selected candidates execute a service bond, presently of ₹3,00,000, for three years, and are liable to be posted at any existing or future unit of OPTCL.
- PwBD candidates are eligible only in the Hearing Impaired and One Leg Affected functional classifications identified as suitable for the post.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
- Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
Selection process & syllabus
Stage by stage, without mixing recruitment years.

- 2Personal interview
- 3Final empanelment on a weighted score — 90% GATE-2026 marks and 10% personal interview
- 4Document verification and publication of the provisional selection list
Syllabus snapshot
- There is no separate OPTCL written test: the written stage is the GATE-2026 Electrical Engineering (paper code EE) examination, so the GATE-2026 EE syllabus applies.
