- ITI / Diploma · Professional degree Full-time regular four-year graduation or three-year diploma in Engineering/Technology from an AICTE-approved college with 60% aggregate marks in Electronics & Telecommunication, Telecommunication, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or any combination of engineering branches in which Electronics is a main branch such as Electronics & Instrumentation. Sections A and B of the Institution of Engineers (India) examinations, or the Graduate Membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India), in those branches are also accepted.
- Age
- 18 to 27 years as on the date of Notice RCIL/2024/P&A/27/1, with relaxation for SC, ST and OBC candidates as per the Presidential and Government directives. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- The notice prescribes no application fee; candidates apply only through the NATS 2.0 portal at nats.education.gov.in and no other mode is entertained. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- Consolidated monthly stipend ₹14,000 for a Graduate Engineer apprentice (RailTel share ₹9,500 and Government of India DBT share ₹4,500) and ₹12,000 for a Diploma Engineer apprentice (RailTel ₹8,000 and DBT ₹4,000). The notice states that no other benefit, facility or allowance is payable beyond the consolidated stipend. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Who can apply?
A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.
Basic eligibility paths
- Candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship, terminated one mid-way, or are pursuing an apprenticeship with another organisation are not eligible.
- Engineering graduates or diploma holders with one year or more of training, job or work experience after the qualifying degree cannot be engaged as apprentices under the Act.
- Candidates who completed the qualifying graduation or diploma more than three years earlier are not considered.
- Qualifications obtained through distance-learning or part-time mode are not accepted.
- The apprenticeship carries no right to claim regular employment in RailTel and creates no liability on the corporation to provide a job.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
- Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.

Selection stages
- 1Online application through the NATS 2.0 portal, after registering on it if not already registered
- 2A region-, state- and location-wise merit list prepared from the marks obtained in the qualifying degree or diploma, with preference to Government institution pass-outs
- 3Shortlisting on that merit list and, where required, an interview
- 4Medical fitness as per the corporation's norms before engagement
