- 18 to 27 years as on the date of Notice RCIL/2024/P&A/27/1, with relaxation for SC, ST and OBC candidates as per the Presidential and Government directives. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- The notice prescribes no application fee; candidates apply only through the NATS 2.0 portal at nats.education.gov.in and no other mode is entertained. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- Consolidated monthly stipend ₹14,000 for a Graduate Engineer apprentice (RailTel share ₹9,500 and Government of India DBT share ₹4,500) and ₹12,000 for a Diploma Engineer apprentice (RailTel ₹8,000 and DBT ₹4,000). The notice states that no other benefit, facility or allowance is payable beyond the consolidated stipend. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Basic eligibility paths
- Candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship, terminated one mid-way, or are pursuing an apprenticeship with another organisation are not eligible.
- Engineering graduates or diploma holders with one year or more of training, job or work experience after the qualifying degree cannot be engaged as apprentices under the Act.
- Candidates who completed the qualifying graduation or diploma more than three years earlier are not considered.
- Qualifications obtained through distance-learning or part-time mode are not accepted.
- The apprenticeship carries no right to claim regular employment in RailTel and creates no liability on the corporation to provide a job.
