Who can apply?

Basic eligibility paths

  • The examination is restricted to certain categories of departmental candidates of CISF; it is not an open recruitment.
  • Four years of regular service as on 1 January of the examination year in the rank of Sub-Inspector (GD) or Inspector (GD), including basic training, with a clean service record under CISF Rules 2001.
  • Three attempts are permitted at the examination.
  • An NCC 'B' or 'C' certificate is a desirable qualification and is considered only at the Interview/Personality Test.
  • Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards specified in Appendix-II of the Rules.

Relaxations & certificates

  • The upper age limit is relaxable by up to five years for SC and ST candidates; the Rules provide for no other age relaxation.
  • Reservation is made for SC and ST candidates against vacancies as fixed by the Government.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.

Syllabus snapshot

  • Paper I — General Ability and Intelligence and Professional Skill: 300 marks, 150 objective questions, two and a half hours, set in English and Hindi; Part A General Ability and Intelligence (150 marks) and Part B Professional Skill (150 marks).
  • Paper II — Essay, Precis Writing and Comprehension: 100 marks, two hours.
