Who can apply?

A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.

Basic eligibility paths

  • Under section 23(1) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 and the NCTE notification of 23 August 2010, passing a teacher eligibility test is a minimum qualification for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII.
  • Paper I is for candidates who want to teach classes I to V and Paper II for classes VI to VIII; a candidate may sit both.
  • Confirm the qualifying marks, relaxations, fee and certificate conditions in the Authority's current-cycle information bulletin.

Relaxations & certificates

  • SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
  • Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.
