Basic eligibility paths

• ✓Reservation benefits are admissible only to bona fide residents of Himachal Pradesh in the SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ward of Freedom Fighter, Ward of Ex-Serviceman and Home Guard categories.
• ✓A candidate must choose one district for the physical test and the written test in the online form; no change is allowed afterwards.
• ✓Applications are made only through the Commission's One Time Registration (OTR) portal, with certificates uploaded before the closing date.
• ✓Recruits undergo a Recruitment Training Course and a course at PTC Daroh; failure to pass makes the service liable to termination.

Relaxations & certificates

• SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
• Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection stages

1. 1Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department
2. 2Offline OMR written examination of two hours conducted by the Commission - 90 objective multiple-choice questions of 90 marks with negative marking, bilingual in English and Hindi
3. 3Evaluation and document verification by the Police Department, which also awards the NCC certificate marks
4. 4Medical examination conducted by the Police Department
5. 5Final merit out of 100 marks: written examination 90, height 6 and NCC certificates 4

Syllabus snapshot

• The advertisement states that the written-examination syllabus is of +2 standard and is published separately on the Commission's website shortly after the advertisement.
• Physical Efficiency Test standards for male candidates: 1500 m in 5 minutes 30 seconds, high jump 1.35 m (three attempts), 100 m in 14 seconds and broad jump 4 m (three attempts); the PET is qualifying only.
• Physical Standard Test marks are awarded only for height, from 0 marks below 5'7" up to 6 marks at 6'0" and above.
