Who can apply?

A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.

Basic eligibility paths

  • Recruitment to Navik (General Duty) is regulated by the Coast Guard Naviks (General Duty) and Coast Guard Subordinate Officers (General Duty) Recruitment Rules, 2024, whose draft notification is published on the Indian Coast Guard website and supersedes the Coast Guard Naviks (General Duty) Recruitment Rules 2008.
  • Recruitment to Navik (Domestic Branch) is regulated by the Coast Guard Naviks / Subordinate Officers (Domestic Branch) Recruitment Rules, 2024, whose draft notification is also published on the Indian Coast Guard website.
  • Both rule sets disqualify a candidate who has contracted a marriage with a person having a living spouse, or who has a living spouse and has contracted another marriage, unless the Central Government grants a specific exemption.
  • Both rule sets expressly preserve reservation, age relaxation and other concessions for SC, ST, OBC, ex-servicemen and other notified categories under standing Central Government orders.
  • The education standard, age band and cut-off date that actually apply to a batch are restated in that batch's CGEPT advertisement; no current-batch figure is asserted here.

Relaxations & certificates

  • SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
  • Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.
