Who can apply?

A readable first check—not a legal eligibility decision.

Basic eligibility paths

  • Under the Coast Guard's draft Yantrik recruitment-rules schedule published on the ICG website, a direct recruit must hold Matriculation or equivalent together with a Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio) (Power) Engineering.
  • The same schedule sets the direct-recruit age at 18–22 years, relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC, and reckons age on the first day of the month of the scheduled basic training rather than a fixed calendar cut-off.
  • Ex-Agniveers receive a 3-year relaxation in the upper age limit under that schedule, and candidates of the first batch of the Agnipath scheme receive 5 years.
  • The schedule also fills Yantrik posts departmentally through the Coast Guard Entry Artificer and mechanician schemes, so the open direct-recruitment share varies by cycle; only the batch's CGEPT advertisement states the vacancies actually opened to outside candidates.
  • Confirm nationality, medical and other batch-specific conditions in the current CGEPT advertisement when it is published.

Relaxations & certificates

  • SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
  • Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.
